This painting is a combination of
several different ideas.  The clouds
came from a photo that my brother
Dr. John Rauch took on his property
in New Mexico.  The lake came from
the way Lake Travis, near my home
in Spicewood,Texas, looks early in
the morning when the mist still hangs
over the water and hills.  The masses
of wildflowers came from the way
the spring was this year in the hill
country of Texas.  The generous
rains this spring produced a
profusion of many different kinds of
wildflowers.  It has been the most
gorgeous season for wildflowers that
I have ever seen in the hill country of
Texas. The puffy clouds and mist
make me think of cotton candy.
