The hollyhocks are in my garden in Taos Canyon. They are incredibly beautiful this year. Some of them have grown to be over 8′ tall! I have almost every color in the rainbow and the giant flowers are dotted all around the property. The butterflies and humming birds absolutely love them. As I was watching them both flit around the garden and darting in and out of the flowers they reminded me of Tinkerbell playing.
I painted this on my Rio Fernando property in Taos Canyon. The orange and red colors are scrub oak. Golden aspen leaves have always reminded me of butterflies when they begin fluttering and floating to the earth in the autumn.
This was painted in the garden that is in front of The Farmhouse Café in Taos, New Mexico. Its one of my favorite places to paint in the summer. The garden is always full of gorgeous blooming flowers of all colors. I liked the way that the white trunks of the aspen trees looked against the flowers. I don’t know what the yellow flowers were that are in the painting. They looked like yellow balls which reminded me of lemon drops.
I painted this on my mountain property in Taos Canyon. I set my easel up in the middle of the foot bridge that crosses the Rio Fernando. This fall the colors were stunning! The aspens ranged from yellows, to golds, to oranges. It was a fascinating location to paint from. The sounds of the river gurgling were very meditative and calming. The property is located on the Enchanted Circle National Scenic Byway between Taos and Angel Fire, New Mexico.
