“Country Morning” acrylic 24″ x 36″ $2000

2 December 2011

Each spring my husband and I drive through the country to enjoy the wildflowers. We usually leave early in the morning and make an entire day of it. This particular painting is a combination of several places that we drove to. I loved the bright flowers in the sunlight, and the old wooden fence. The Hill Country around Fredericksburg, Texas, is absolutely stunning once the flowers bloom! This painting combines the brilliant colors of the flowers, with the peacefulness of the country.

“Summer” Giclee on canvas

31 August 2011

I was inspired by two completely different summer scenes when I created this painting. One was a country ride that I went on in the Hill Country, and the other was from a group of gorgeous wildflowers that were growing. The painting combines both of these scenes together. “Summer” has the bright happy colors of summer wildflowers, combined with the peacefulness that you feel in a country setting. I was intrigued with the challenge of combining peaceful feelings with intensely bright colors when I painted this.

“Wildflower Rhapsody” Giclee on canvas

18 July 2010

This painting is the combining of sunflowers, bachelor buttons and poppys that grew on the
mountainside at my home “Agua Viva Ranch” in Taos, New Mexico. It is my signature piece. It feels happy and bright like the days were in the New Mexico sunshine. It suggests the beautiful tangles of the wildflowers as they grew next to each other. You feel as if you are
immersed in the field with the flowers.

“Wedding Day” Giclee on canvas

14 April 2011

This painting was a piece that I painted for our son Christopher and his wife Rita. I named it “Wedding Day” because it has the colors of their wedding in it. The painting has flowers that bloom in the spring, which is when they were married. This painting combines the reds and purples that were sprinkled throughout the wedding ceremony. I chose the pale pinks to represent the softness of a wedding, and the reds to represent the passion of young love. The style that I chose is a combination of what Chris and Rita liked in two very different paintings. It is mid-way between the softness of Monet, and the boldness of my hard edge fantasy style. Chris liked the hard edge bold paintings, and Rita liked the soft impressionist style that I paint in. This painting brings both styles together for them.

I just finished “Summer”

25 August 2011

You will be able to see my newest painting very soon. Its called “Summer”. I particularly enjoyed painting this piece because of the challenge I gave myself when I first began. I had two ideas in mind when I started. One selection was a very peaceful country scene that my husband Rick and I drove through in the Texas Hill Country. I loved this particular place in the country because it made me feel so relaxed and at peace. I also loved a patch of wildflowers that were growing in Colorado. I have been wanting to do a painting that would portray the moods of summer. When I decided to combine these two ideas it definitely provided me with an interesting challenge. The colors that are usually associated with peacefulness are soft gentle colors. The colors of summer are usually bright and intense. I wanted to combine these two feelings in one painting. As I began to paint I was intrigued with how I could do this the best. Soft and gentle in the background and fading into the sky and clouds was the decision for peace. Big, bold and bright was the decision for the foreground. Once I had solved this problem the painting was there!  “Summer” has already been sold, but is available as a giclee on canvas.

Copper Butterfly. 9×9″ $35.00

30 June 2011

This gorgeous butterfly was created by copper sculptor Rick Hewitt. Its intense colors are chemical burns into the copper. Each butterfly is hand cut, hammered and burned. All of the butterflies are completely different in coloring. Each butterfly is a Rick Hewitt original. You can attach them to walls, fences, bird baths and trees by using the hook on the back of the butterfly. These butterflies will stay with you even during the cold winter months.
They are available at “Linda Rauch Gallery” and on our web site.
