“Shell, Necklace & Lace” Original Drawing framed & under glass 16×24 $800.00

27 June 2010

A favorite sea shell of mine is the nautilus.  This shell came from the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.  I lived in Australia for 8 years.  I combined this shell with a favorite necklace and lovely piece of lace that belonged to a grandmother.   This is a mixed media drawing using watercolor, ink wash, colored pencil and oil pastel.

NOTE: Drawings can also be beautifully produced as Giclee’s in standard sizes on canvas or paper. Prices are lower, but vary. Please Inquire.

“For Lili” Giclee on canvas 24×30.

27 June 2010

This painting was done for my friend Lili Hammond.  It is a tangled mass of Texas bluebonnets gently swaying in the breeze. It looks and feels the way fields of flowers look when the spring breezes move the blossoms.

I painted this piece when I decided to return to Austin, Texas.  The gorgeous hill country where I now live has massive amounts of bluebonnets in the early spring. This painting almost evokes a feeling of the ocean.  When you snorkel and look down under the surface of the ocean you can see sea plants gently swaying with the currents, just as you can see flowers dance in the wind.

Available in various sizes, prices vary. “Click here to inquire.“.

“Morning Glory Bouquet” Original Acrylic 30×30 $3150.00

27 June 2010

These colorful morning  glories grow on the old bed  spring trellis in front of my  home.  The day I painted them  they were almost translucent as  the sun lit them from behind.  I  have tried to capture the delicate  feel of the petals.

Morning glories are very  fragile and delicate when they  grow.  By using a transparent  glazing technique that I have  been experimenting with, I was able to show this fragility in the painting.  The different colored  blooms looked as if a florist had  actually arranged them into a  bouquet on this particular morning.
