“Rubies and Emeralds” acrylic 24″ × 36 ″ $1800.00

This painting came from the gorgeous poppies that came up in my flower bed this spring. I planted a mixed packet of flower seeds by my front door courtyard area. These brilliant red poppies came up among a tangled mass of green. When the buds poked their heads up through the masses they reminded me of green emeralds. The ruby red flower blossoms were dazzling in the sunlight! The combination of the two together looked like rubies and emeralds. When the sun hit the blossoms and buds they sparkled like jewels in a green velvet box. These giant red poppies looked like they were rubies that were on fire. The colors in the painting are intense so that you can feel the way they looked to me on that warm spring morning. Poppies are my favorite flowers. I wanted to show you the magic I saw in these delicate petals and fragile stems with giant red blossoms.

CARDONA-HINE GALLERY

18 September 2010

On our trip to Taos, New Mexico we stopped in to visit a favorite gallery of mine. The gallery is located in Truchas, New Mexico, high on a mountain ridge top. Truchas is one of the most spectacular little villages that I have ever seen. The work in the gallery is stunning! The work belongs to the husband and wife that own the gallery. Both artists are absolutely exceptional. I was lucky enough to visit with Alvaro in the gallery. Alvaro has some magnificent pieces of work on display that were painted in Morocco. I was absolutely mesmerized with his paintings. This little village has several gallerys to visit. It is on the “High Road Art Tour” and an absolute must to see if you are in the area. The art tour this year is taking place on September 18-19 and September 25-26. If you would like to see the fabulous paintings in this lovely gallery you can go to www.cardonahinegallery.com

Inger Jirby Gallery

7 September 2010

One of my favorite artists is Inger Jirby in Taos, New Mexico. I was fortunate enough this week to get to spend an evening discussing art with her. Inger has a gorgeous gallery on Ledoux Street in Taos. She is a long time friend of mine, and my husband Rick displays his wind sculptures in her sculpture garden. Inger was kind enough to look at my work and comment on pieces that she liked. I was thrilled to have her spend time with me and talk about my art work. The paintings that she liked the best were: “Morning Glory Bouquet”, “Wildflowers a la Monet”, “Sun Dance”, “Spring”, “In the Meadow’, and “Fairy Confetti”. Inger described the pieces as having an entire universe in the backgrounds of the paintings. If you would like to see these particular paintings you can use the search on my site to find them. Inger is the poster artist this year for Taos. The painting that was chosen is on display in her gallery. She is also having a one man show in St. Barts this October. I’m sure that you would enjoy seeing her work on her web site. It is magical, colorful and full of whimsical interpretations of what she sees when she is painting. www.jirby.com
