“Genesis” original ink wash and pencil drawing, 24×30″ framed $800.00

23 February 2011

This drawing resulted from a trip to Grand Cayman Island when I was visiting my brother Jim Rauch. My brother lived for years right on the sandy white beaches that were next to the turquoise blue carribean ocean. The water in Grand Cayman is so clear that you can see as if you were in a swimming pool when you are snorkling. The shells and the tropical foliage were facinating to me. One day I happened to notice that certain things in flowers reminded me somewhat of some of the lines I saw in shells. This drawing was made to show a connection between the sea and the land. I call it “Genesis” because the shell is beginning a transformation into a flower.

“Rattletrap” Giclee on canvas 24×36.

18 July 2010

This drawing was done as a gift for my husband Brian Neff. Brian died in April of 1997. Brian loved to bass fish with this lure. The grouping of the lures was inspired by a favorite Mexican restaurant of mine in Austin called Chuy’s. Chuy’s has masses of paper mache fish hanging from the ceiling of the restaurant. When the air conditioning blows the paper mache fish they appear as they are swimming. It was a thank you gift to Brian for taking care of my four year old son David. Brian took care of David for me during the time that I was taking an advanced drawing class at the University of Texas.

“Tomatoes” Original Drawing colored pencil 18×23 framed & under glass $800.00

18 July 2010

This is a colored pencil drawing that I did one summer in Austin, Texas. The tomatoes and cantaloupe that I had brought home from the store were so colorful that I wanted to draw them. The old lantern was one that belonged to my grandmother.

“Rag Doll” Original Drawing colored pencil 18×24 framed & under glass $800.00

18 July 2010

This is a colored pencil drawing of my favorite doll. I was given this gorgeous rag doll when I lived in Australia by my son’s grandparents. I was invited to dinner at their home for my birthday. Sitting at the table in a seat all of her own was “Amber” my doll. The doll is very special to me because of who gave it to me, but also because it was a complete surprise.

I had talked to my mother-in-law about seeing gorgeous rag dolls in a gallery. They were quite large, and all a little different. I described Amber to her, as she was my favorite. The doll was a complete surprise! Behind the doll is a lovely pillow that my mother embroidered with a gorgeous white Persian cat. The drawing is very nostalgic to me. I also have Giclee prints on paper of this doll.
